Setup for sections and blocks

Basic Use of Sections and Blocks

This article explains the fundamental use of sections and blocks in Acendy's design builder, detailing how to add, edit, move, and manage these elements.

Sections

The design always starts with sections, which can only be placed on the homepage/root of the theme you are working with. Within each section, you can place various blocks to build the desired design.

Think of sections as the floors in a house, while blocks are the rooms on each floor.

Add

When you are on the homepage of the theme, you can add a section in the left menu by clicking the + Seksjon button.

This will open the menu with all available sections. Then add the section you want.

Edit

All sections can be edited. Available settings may vary depending on the section type.

To edit the section, click the pen icon button when the mouse pointer is moved over the section.

Move (click and drag)

All sections support "click and drag". Just drag it up/down to the location you want.

More options

By moving the mouse pointer over the section, a menu (three vertical dots) is displayed. From this menu, you get several options, described in the list below.

Hidden, but not removed

The section will be hidden from the web store, but for people with only the right knowledge, you can still find the section in the browser code. Therefore, do not have sensitive information in sections.

Description of options on sections

Save section: Creates a global component that can be reused. That is, the section, settings and blocks in the section are saved as one component and can be reused.

Change name: Give the section a new and descriptive name.

Hide section: The section will be hidden from the online store.

Duplicate section: Creates a copy of the sections.

Remove section: Deletes the section from the design.

Blocks

In all sections, you place blocks to change the design and add functionality. Although each block has unique settings and possibilities, they also have some basic functions in the same way as sections:

Add

After you have added a section, you can move the mouse pointer over it and a button, +, will appear. Click this to open the menu that shows all available blocks for the selected section.

Note; different sections have different blocks available.

All blocks can be edited. Available settings may vary depending on the type of block and can range from a few settings to a much more complete setup.

Visit the overview of available blocks to see a description of each block.

To edit the block, click the pen icon button when the mouse pointer is moved over it.
