Dashboard in the control panel

The Dashboard is the homepage in the control panel. It gathers sales, orders, inventory value, and pending tasks, so you can see the store's status without opening a single report.

You can find it under Dashboard in the sidebar menu. The page itself is called Overview

This article covers the top bar and the layout — what applies to the entire page. Each section group has its own article:

Dashboard: Why aren't the numbers correct?

Troubleshooting when a number is not what you expected

What the numbers cover

All order figures on the dashboard apply by default to the entire store — both online store and POS. Canceled orders are always excluded.

This distinguishes the dashboard from the POS dashboard, which only shows sales made in the POS system. If you see a higher number here than in the POS system, it is usually the online store sales that make up the difference.

If you have a POS system, you can choose which sales channels the numbers should cover — see Sales Channels. The label next to the page title always indicates what applies.

Top Bar

At the top of the page are three controls that govern the rest of the dashboard.

Period Selector

Select dates

From- and to-date you select yourself

Or a number of days back

A rolling window you specify yourself, for example 45 days

If you select dates under Select dates, the selector automatically switches to that period. If you select one of the fixed options again, the dates will be reset.

Number of days back is for those who think in days rather than dates. Type the number and press enter, and it will say Last 45 days in the top bar. Today's date is included, so Last 7 days covers exactly the same as Last week

The same options are available both in the top bar and in the label of each individual section. A section can therefore have exactly the same period as the whole, without you having to search for an option that only exists in one place.

The period selector is the starting point for all sections that have a period. Some sections have fixed windows that cannot be changed, and they will indicate this themselves — see Which sections follow the period

What the numbers are compared with

The key figures show an arrow and a percentage below the amount. The percentage is the change from the comparison period to the one you are viewing — if revenue goes from 8 000 kr to 4 000 kr, it will show ▼ 50%. If there is no revenue to compare with, no percentage will be displayed instead of a fabricated number.

You choose what it is compared with. Under Settings, in the top bar, at the top of the dialog, it says Compare numbers against with two options:

Option

What it means

Same period last year

If you choose Previous month, it is measured against the same month last year. The default choice, and the same as the old control panel did.

Previous period

If you choose Previous month, it is measured against the month before. Useful when you want to see the effect of something you have just done.

The choice applies to you, not the store. Two users in the same store can have their own setup, and each of you sees the numbers as you have chosen.

With Same period last year, each period is compared with the same time frame one year back. If the period is set to Today, the day so far is measured against the same day last year, up to the same time.

With Previous period, each period is compared with the window immediately before it, of the same length:

Selected period

Compared with

Today

Yesterday, up to the same time

Last week

The 7 days before them

Last month

The month before

Last 2 months

The two months before

Last 3 months

The three months before

Last 6 months

The six months before

Last N days

The same number of days immediately before

Select dates

Same length window immediately before the from-date

Today stops at the time regardless of which of the two options you use. If you look at the dashboard at 10 AM, 00:00–10:00 is measured against 00:00–10:00 in the comparison period — not against a full day. Otherwise, the number would be in the negative every single morning, no matter how it went.

This year is always compared to the same period last year, even if you have selected Previous period. "Is it better than last year" is the only meaningful interpretation of a year-to-date figure; the previous equally long window would have fallen in the autumn of last year.

Sections that do not follow the selection

Some sections have their own comparison and are not affected by the setting:

  • Orders per hour — this year versus last year, always.
  • Trending categories and Trending products — against the same period last year, always.
  • Stock value — has its own comparison date in the section.
  • Sales — is compared to the previous equally long period, regardless of the setting. Note this: if your setting is Same period last year, the graph compares Sales something different from the key figures above it.

Therefore, two sections can show different percentages simultaneously

The comparison follows the section's own period, not the top line. If the key figures in Orders & revenue are set to Today while Sales further down is set to Last month, the first is compared against its own previous day and the second against its own previous month. Both are correct — they are just measuring two different windows.

The label at the top of each section indicates which period it uses. If you are unsure what a percentage refers to, that's where you check.

Sections with their own period

Each section that has a period shows a small badge at the top with the period it actually uses. This prevents you from guessing which numbers apply to what.

  • Gray badge with clock — the section follows the period selector at the top.
  • Blue badge with pin — the section has its own period and does not care about the period selector.

Click the badge to give that specific section a different period. The badge turns blue, and a small button with an arrow appears next to it. If you click the arrow — or Follow dashboard period in the menu — the section reverts to following the top bar.

Sections with fixed windows also have a badge, but it is not clickable. It is there to explain why the period selector did not move them.

The choice is saved to your user account, so a section you have given its own period remains that way the next time you log in. If you have at least one such section, the top bar shows «N sections have their own period». Click it to set all sections back to the period selector.

Settings

Settings in the top bar opens a dialog with three groups.

At the top is Compare numbers against, which determines what percentages are measured against — see What the numbers are compared against

Under Revenue Basis, there are three toggles that determine how revenue is calculated:

Setting

Effect

Show values without VAT

Revenue is shown excluding VAT instead of including VAT.

Exclude shipping from graphs and revenue

Revenue is calculated on item lines alone, without shipping

Include return orders in graphs and revenue

Returns and credit notes are deducted from revenue

At the bottom is Sales Channels, which determines which orders are included at all. This group is only shown in stores that have a POS system. See Sales Channels

Press Save, and all sections will be recalculated with the new basis. Bestsellers and Top Brands are only affected by the VAT toggle — an item that has been returned never counts as a bestseller, and shipping is not an item line.

The settings are saved to your user account. If you change them, you only change your own dashboard — colleagues in the same store keep theirs.

Note that Include return orders only applies to revenue figures. The order list in Orders & Revenue shows credited orders regardless — see Dashboard: Orders & Revenue.

Sales Channels

If the store has a POS system, there are two toggles under Sales Channels in the settings dialog: Online Store and POS. Both are on by default, representing the entire store.

If you turn off one of them, the figures are calculated only for the remaining channel:

Option

Figures cover

Online Store + POS

All orders in the store

Online Store only

Orders placed in the online store

POS only

Sales entered into the POS system

You cannot turn off both — the last one remaining on is locked. A dashboard with only zeros helps no one.

The selection applies to order and revenue figures. Some sections have no sales channel to filter by and remain unchanged:

  • New customers are counted on the customer account, not on the orders
  • Stock value are snapshots of the inventory
  • Product checklistCampaigns and Getting started do not measure sales

Next to the page title is a badge with All sales channelsOnline store only or POS only. The badge is not clickable — it's just there to explain why the numbers look the way they do. You change the channels under Settings. Stores without a POS system will not see the badge or the checkboxes, as there is no channel to choose from.

Like the other settings, the channel selection is saved to your user account. The POS dashboard is not affected — it still only shows POS sales.

Store Status

Today's figures, and the only section that updates itself while you are on the page. The numbers change immediately when an order comes in; the revenue amount may lag by up to one minute.

Customize dashboard

Open Customize in the top bar.

1. Check or uncheck sections to show or hide them.
2. Change the order by dragging the handle, or use the arrows Move up and Move down3.
Press Apply

Reset sets everything back to the default layout.

The layout is saved to your user account. Two people logging into the same store can have completely different dashboards. The only exception is the checkboxes in Get Started, which apply to the entire store.

Hidden sections cost nothing — they are not loaded at all. If you hide the heavy sections, the page loads faster.

If a new section appears in an update, it will show up in its default place. Sections you have hidden yourself will remain hidden.

A few sections are the exception: they come disabled, and must be checked here before they are displayed. Orders to handle and Order statuses are the two. If you can't find a section you've heard about, this is where you look.

How the page updates

The dashboard checks every minute for new orders. If new orders arrive, the sections update — but only those that can actually change due to one new order. Graphs covering an entire year remain static, because one order does not visibly move them.

The page is built up piece by piece: the frame comes first, and each section fills itself when its calculations are complete. This is why you see gray placeholders for the first few seconds in a store with a lot of history.

Figures for periods that have ended are cached for up to six hours. This makes the page fast, but means that a change to an old order — for example, a cancellation retroactively — may take a few hours before it takes effect on the dashboard. Figures for periods that include today are updated within one minute.

Which sections follow the period

The period selector does not control the entire page. Some sections measure something that cannot be placed into an arbitrary period, and others you may have given their own. The label at the top of each section always states what applies there — the table below is the starting point.

Section

Period

Orders & revenue

Follows the period selector, can have its own

Payment & shipping

Follows the period selector, can have its own

Bestsellers and brands

Follows the period selector, can have its own per list

Trending categories

Own period, by default year to date

Trending products

Own period, by default year to date

Sales

Own period, by default last month

Store status

Always today

Orders to handle

Does not follow the period selector — shows everything pending

Order statuses

Does not follow the period selector — counts all orders, regardless of age

Orders per hour

Always this year versus last year

Average order value

Always this year

Campaigns

Own window forward

Scheduled delivery

Always next 7 days

Reports

Always this month and this year

Stock value

Own date picker

The bottom four measure something different than 'a period you choose': Orders per hour and Average order value compare year over year, Reports compare month and year against last year, and Scheduled delivery and Campaigns look forward instead of backward.

Stock value and Payment & shipping are also displayed on lower plans, but with blurred example numbers behind an upgrade message. The numbers you see there are illustrations, not the store's own. Campaigns are not displayed at all under Smart, and Scheduled delivery displays an upgrade message under Plus.

Orders to handle and Order statuses do not require a specific plan — they are available to everyone, but must be enabled manually.

Demo stores

If you try Mystore on a demo, you get two extra elements:

  • Countdown at the top of the page showing how many days are left in the trial period, and the button Become a customer. The banner turns yellow when three days are left and red when the period has expired.
  • Welcome card with shortcuts to the getting started guide, product registration, design, and the knowledge base, as well as buttons to ask Elvin AI or contact us.

Orders & revenue is hidden by default in demo stores, because a demo is often full of old test orders. Turn it on from Customize if you want to see it.

Design migration notice

Stores still using an old design template will receive a notice at the top of the dashboard: the webshop search will stop working on October 1, 2026. The notice is orange until September 1, 2026, and red thereafter, with a countdown to the deadline.

The notice cannot be hidden, and the same step in the Getting Started list will take the same color. The solution is to switch to the Design Builder template.

Tips

  • Page loads slowly in a large store, hide Orders per hourAverage order value and Reports. These are the heaviest sections, because they cover a full year or more.
  • Did a section not change when you switched periods? Look at the badge at the top of it. If it's blue, the section has its own period, and the arrow next to it resets it. If it's Orders to handle, it has no period at all — it always shows everything that is pending.
  • If you see a number you don't recognize, start in Dashboard: Why don't the numbers match? The most common explanations are the VAT basis, the channel filter, and that the section measures a different time period than you think.
