Introduction to international sales
Get Started with International Sales
This article provides an introduction to what is required to start selling internationally. The other articles in this category will guide you through each step mentioned below.
Before you begin:
To use the new international sales setup, you must use the **Design Builder**. This solution will not work with the America, Europa, or older design templates. More on the Design Builder here.
Here's how to set it up:
VAT (Tax)
You must use the new tax classes to be able to link multiple VAT rates to different countries. We have created a migration tool that allows you to transfer your existing VAT setup to the new tax classes with just a few clicks.
Countries, Currency, and Language
You can activate as many countries as you wish and link your desired language and currency to each country from a clear overview page in the control panel.
Payment Methods
You need to set up payment methods that accept international transactions. If you use Klarna checkout, you already have what you need to get started.
Shipping Methods
You must select and configure shipping methods that deliver abroad.
Customs Documentation
To ensure correct customs clearance of goods in the recipient country, you must use a solution for generating the necessary documents.
Content Languages
When you add multiple languages, you must enter additional languages in the control panel. This includes product descriptions, category descriptions, etc. This is easily done via dedicated fields for the different languages where needed.
Storefront Languages
All system texts are automatically translated when a customer changes the language in your online store. You will also get more places to enter multiple languages in the Design Builder. For example, you must add multiple languages where you have uploaded text on image banners.
