The customer card

The customer card gathers everything about one customer: contact information, company details, addresses, key figures, and actions. You open it by clicking on a row in the customer overview.

At the top of the card

The customer's name is at the top. To the left is the arrow back to the customer list, and to the right you'll find two buttons:

  • Actions — the menu with everything you can do with the customer. See Actions on a customerUpdate customer
  • — saves your changes. Changes are not saved automatically, so remember this when you have made corrections.

Account statistics

Just below the top is a row of key figures. They are for reading, not fields you can edit.

Field

Means

Online orders

Number of orders the customer has placed in the online store

Online store order total

Sum of these orders

POS orders

Number of purchases at the POS. Only shown when the store has a POS system

Order value in POS

Sum of purchases at the POS

Member since

Date the account was created

Logins

How many times the customer has logged in

Last login

When the customer last logged in

Online orders and POS orders are intentionally kept separate, as the online store and POS system are two sales channels you would normally evaluate individually. If you click on one of the numbers, you will go to the order list filtered by this customer.

If you want to see the products behind the numbers instead of the orders, use Purchased products in the Actions menu.

Contact information

The top section is open when you enter, and contains the fields you change most often.

Field

Note

Customer number

Cannot be changed after the customer is created

Email address

Required. This is the username the customer logs in with

Customer group

Only with reseller solution

First name and Last name

Phone number

Street address, Postal code, City, Country

The customer's default address

Marketing

If the customer subscribes to newsletters

Account manager

Only with reseller solution

If you change the email address, you also change what the customer must use to log in. If the address is in use by another customer, you will receive an error message when saving.

Billing information

By default, the billing address is the same as the contact information, and the section only shows a line stating that.

If the customer needs a separate billing address — typically business customers where the bill should go to a different location than the goods — turn off Same as contact information. Then you will get separate fields for billing recipient, address, and billing email.

Company information

Company name, organization number, and C/O. A filled-in company name is what practically makes the customer a business customer: this field controls whether first and last names are required, and it is used in order confirmations for business customers.

Notes and options

The note field is for internal use. The customer does not see it.

If the customer has a note, a small icon is displayed next to the customer's orders in the order list, so that the person packing the order is aware of it. Use it for messages such as «call before delivery» or «invoice to accounting department».

Bonus points

If the store has a customer club, a separate bonus points field is located on the card with the customer's balance.

Click on the field to expand it. There you can:

  • Enter a number of points in Update bonus points. A positive number adds, a negative number subtracts.
  • Add a note, so you and your colleagues can see why the adjustment was made.
  • Click Update

Below is the history: each change with points, order number where relevant, note, and date. Points the customer has used are shown with a minus sign.

Tips

  • The cash customer from the POS system does not have a customer card. It is a technical placeholder for cash sales and cannot be opened, edited, or deleted.
  • Fields are validated when you save, not while you type. If you get an an error message, it will appear below the relevant field.
