ChatGPT Ads — product feed
ChatGPT Ads retrieves your products from a product feed. You set it up in Mystore using the Shopping feed extension, not with a pixel. The feed is what provides ChatGPT with the products, prices, and stock status. The pixel is a separate, optional add-on that only measures what happens after the click. Read ChatGPT Ads — pixel.
How to do it
1. Go to Settings → Modules and search for Shopping feed
2. Install the module if it is not already installed, and turn on Activate module
3. Turn on Generate ChatGPT Ads feed in the module settings.
4. Use this URL in ChatGPT Ads, with your own domain instead of yourstore.no
https://dinbutikk.no/openai_feed.csv5. Register the URL as a product feed in ChatGPT Ads. OpenAI explains the steps in its own guide for ChatGPT Ads.
The feed is built in the background the first time. If you open the URL immediately after turning it on, you will receive the message "Feed is being generated, please try again shortly". Wait a few minutes and try again.
⚠️ The feed is off by default
The switch Generate ChatGPT Ads feed is off when you install Shopping feed. As long as it is off,openai_feed.csvwill respond with "Feed not enabled", even if the module is otherwise active.
What the feed contains
The feed is a CSV file. Each row is one product, or one variant of a product.
Field | Content |
|---|---|
ID | The feed ID of the product or variant |
Title and description | Product name and description |
Link and images | Link to the product page, main image, and additional images |
Seller | Your shop name |
Brand | The brand of the product, if set |
Availability | In stock, out of stock, or preorder |
Price | Price with currency code, for example |
Sale price | Only included when it is lower than the regular price |
EAN | Only included when it has 8, 12, 13, or 14 digits |
Category | The category path in your shop, for example "Women > Jackets" |
Condition | Always "new" |
Weight | In grams, when the product has weight |
Variant group | For products with variants. See below |
All products in the feed are marked as suitable for ads.
Variants
A product with variants, for example size and color, gets one row per variant. The rows are linked together with a shared group ID so that ChatGPT understands that they are the same product. Each row also contains the options for the variant, for example "Size: M".
What controls the content
The feed is built by the same code as the Google feed. Stock status, prices, variants, and excluded products therefore follow the same rules and settings. Read Product Feed to Google Merchant Center for the settings and product tags that control the content.
- Products with the tag Exclude from feeds are also removed from the ChatGPT feed.
- Gift cards are always excluded.
- Settings like Minimum number of products and Show all products regardless of stock status also apply here.
When is the feed updated
The feed is stored as a ready-made file on the server, and is rebuilt along with the other feeds:
- once a day with the default setting
- every six hours if you set Update frequency in hours to
Changes in price and stock will only appear in ChatGPT after the next build.
Worth knowing
- The ChatGPT Ads feed is a CSV file. The Google feed and Meta feed are XML and do not fit in ChatGPT Ads.
- The feed is common to the entire store. You cannot create a separate ChatGPT feed per country or domain.
