Delete products
This article explains how to delete products in Acendy, and when you should consider deactivating a product instead of deleting it.
Important before deleting a product
Deletion cannot be undone!
When a product is deleted:
- it is permanently removed from the system
- it can not be restored
- you lose all associated history
If the product should only be removed temporarily, it is recommended to deactivate the product instead of deleting it. See how to deactivate a product here!
When should I deactivate instead of delete?
Deactivate the product if:
- the product has been sold previously
- the product exists in orders, reports, or accounting
- the product may become relevant again later
- you want to preserve item number, prices, and sales history
Delete the product only if:
- it is a test product
- it was created by a mistake
- the product has never been used
Delete product from product catalog
- Go to Products → Products in the control panel
- Click on the product you want to delete
- Click Delete
- Select:
- Delete from this category, or
- Delete from all categories
- Confirm the action
Deleting products via Bulk editor
- Go to Products → Bulk editor
- Check the products you want to delete
- Click Bulk editor
- Select Delete
- Confirm the action
- Click Start
Important to know
- Deletion is permanent
- The action cannot be undone
- The product cannot be restored by customer service
- Youlose all history associated with the product
