GDPR and Privacy
GDPR - Privacy
Privacy is a fundamental right concerning the right to privacy and to decide over one's personal data.
Why You Are Subject to GDPR
As an online store owner, you must have good routines to safeguard your customers' privacy. When trading on the internet, you must request information about the customer's identity to ensure that you are communicating with a real person.
This can include information the customer provides when creating a customer account in your online store.
You are obligated to process this customer information securely. In addition, you must inform your customers how you process their information. It is recommended to do this via a privacy statement available in the online store.
How to Add a Privacy Statement to the Online Store
In the control panel, you will find a privacy page ready for you to enter your privacy statement:
- Log in to your Control panel.
- Select Design > Main menu/Content.
- On Privacy, press Edit.
- If the page/link is hidden, remember to have it visible in the main menu and/or bottom line.
Alternatively, you can choose to add a separate item about privacy under your sales conditions.
Template for the Privacy Statement
- Here you will find a template for the privacy statement that you are welcome to use. You are responsible for determining which of the points in the template apply to your online store.
