Trend Report: Introduction and Activation

The trend report compares this year against last year for each category and product in your store. It answers one question: what is growing, and what is falling?

You can find it under Reports > Trend

What the report shows

For each category and product, you get units sold, revenue, profit, and margin — this year and last year, side by side, with the change calculated for you. It sorts the biggest drop at the top, because that's the row you want to see before any others.

Other reports in Mystore tell you what you sold. This one tells you which direction it's going.

Plan requirements

The trend report is available on Smart and Plus

If you are on a lower plan, you will still see Trend in the menu, but instead of the report, you will encounter a page explaining the feature with an Upgrade plan button. The menu item does not disappear — you should be able to see what is available.

How to turn it on

The report is not enabled from the start. You choose when it should be activated.

1. Go to Reports > Trend

2. Click Enable trend report

That's the whole job. No settings to fill out.

Why you have to wait until next morning

Once you've enabled it, we'll read through two years of your sales history — every order, every order line, every product, and every category — and summarize it. For a store with many orders, it's a lot to process.

We do this job at night, while the store is quiet. That's why you receive the notification that the report is ready next morning, instead of sitting and waiting for a calculation in the middle of your workday.

The benefit comes afterwards: because the numbers are already summarized, the report opens instantly every time thereafter. Each night, yesterday's data is added.

Statuses you may encounter

What you see

What is happening

“It will be ready tomorrow morning”

Activated. The job starts tonight.

“Working through your history now — X of Y months completed”

The calculation is in progress. The page's progress bar updates automatically.

The report with data

Completed.

“We could not complete your report”

Something went wrong. We are notified automatically and are looking into it — you don't need to report anything.

You can close the page while it's working. The calculation continues regardless, and it will pick up where it left off if interrupted.

Large stores with a long history may take more than one night to be fully completed. The report will still open as soon as the two periods it compares are covered — the rest of the history will be filled in behind a report you can already use. If you select a period that goes further back than we have managed, the report will state it clearly instead of showing empty months as if nothing was sold.

Tips

  • If you activate the report on a Friday, you will have it by Monday morning, regardless of the store's size.
  • If the store later downgrades to a lower plan, the update will stop, but the data you have will remain.
