Product feed per country
Product feed per country
If you sell in multiple countries, one product feed is not enough. Google Merchant Center requires prices in the correct currency, text in the correct language, and links to the correct domain for each market. The Product Feed page under Settings allows you to create one feed per country, each with its own URL.
The standard feed uses the store's main language, main currency, and main domain. Additional feeds you create inherit language, currency, and domain from the country they are linked to.
Before you start
- The international setup must be completed. If it is not, the page will show the setup guide instead of the feed list. See Add country, currency, and languageThe country must be active and have both language and currency set. Countries without this cannot be selected.
- The extension
- Shopping feed must be activated. Without it, the feed URLs will not respond with anything.
Create a feed for a country
- Go to Settings → Product FeedClick
- New feedGive the feed a recognizable name, for example "Sweden" or "Google Shopping SE".Select country. The dropdown list shows the domain, language, and currency for each country, so you can see what the feed will contain before saving.
- Save.
The feed appears in the list with its own URL. Use the copy button next to the URL and paste it into the Merchant Center account for that country.
Feed list
Column | Content |
|---|---|
Name | The name you gave the feed. The standard feed is called "Standard" |
Domain | The domain the links in the feed point to |
Language | The language product names and descriptions are retrieved in |
Currency | The currency prices are specified in |
Feed link | The URL you paste into Google |
The standard feed cannot be deleted or changed from here — it follows the store's main settings. You can edit and delete the country feeds.
How the URLs look
The standard feed:
https://dinbutikk.no/twinxml/google_shopping.xml
A country feed has an ID at the end:
https://dinbutikk.no/twinxml/google_shopping.xml?id=1234
The ID belongs to that specific feed. If you change which country the feed applies to, it retains the same URL, and the content is rebuilt at the next generation. If you delete the feed, the URL stops working, and the generated file is removed.
When the feeds are updated
All feeds are rebuilt along with the main feed — once a day, or every six hours if the update frequency in the Shopping feed extension is set to 6 hours.
A brand new feed does not have a file yet. If you open the URL immediately, you will be notified that the feed is being generated, and the job will start. Wait a few minutes before submitting the URL to Google, so you can verify that the content is correct.
Tips
- The settings in the Shopping feed extension — stock status, minimum quantity, custom labels — apply to all feeds. You cannot set them differently per country.
- Products excluded by tag are excluded from all feeds.
- If you need a feed without variants for a specific country, that is not available. The main product feed is only created for the standard feed.
