Get Started with Personalized Search
This article explains what personalized search is, why it's important, and how to use its tools to improve the customer experience in your Acendy store.
Conversion
How does personalized search help with conversion?
Customers today have limited time and are exposed to a lot of information. When a customer visits your online store through an ad, you only have a few seconds to capture their interest. A major reason customers leave online stores is unsuccessful searches. A good search function is especially important on mobile devices, where customers have less overview and a shorter attention span.
Search Function
Personalized search provides relevant product, category, or brand suggestions as the customer types in the search field. This makes it easier for customers to find what they are looking for.
- Personalized search uses AI technology, improving over time.
- A good search function increases conversion and reduces the number of customers who leave the online store.
Filtering
Customers can filter search results by categories, manufacturer, and price, and sort by various criteria.
Product Suggestions with Images
The search function shows product suggestions with images as the customer types.
Tools
Searches Without Results
This tool shows searches that did not yield any products, often due to typos. To avoid this, create synonyms for search terms.
Example: if someone searches for "barnevågn" instead of "barnevogn" (stroller), add "barnevågn" as a synonym for "barnevogn".
Synonyms
Synonyms help minimize searches without results by displaying a different search result than what was originally searched for. This is useful for common typos or alternative terms.
Example: "Sykkelsko" (cycling shoes) is added as a synonym for the search term "Cralltest."
The store search will now show all products containing "sykkelsko".
Keywords
Keywords allow you to provide extra information in a search.
You can create custom keywords that display extended content for specific search terms. For example, if someone searches for "Apple", you can show extra information about Apple and their products, or create a keyword for manufacturers you don't have.
Custom Result
This function allows you to customize what is displayed for different search terms, including and excluding individual products, and even creating landing pages for specific searches.
Common uses:
- Prioritize specific products for a search term.
- Exclude products from a search.
- Create a landing page based on a search term.
Search Word
In the "Search Word" field, enter the word for which you want to customize results.
Merge Result
This option determines whether the products you choose to display for a search term should be merged with the "normal" result for the search term or not.
If you choose "Merge Result", the regular result plus the products you choose to display will be shown. The products you choose will be displayed at the top, prioritizing them for that search term.
If you choose "Do Not Merge Result", only the products you choose to display will be shown.
Products
Search here for the products to include or exclude for the search term. After adding a product, you can choose to include or exclude it.
