Learn how to add barcodes (EAN) to products in your control panel.

Why Use Barcodes

Barcodes (EAN) are a useful tool that helps you differentiate your products. This helps you a lot in the control panel, but at least as important, it helps to identify the products in Google (only if the manufacturer's EAN code is used). Since the EAN codes are unique, they are also used to scan goods in physical stores.

How to Generate Barcodes

Before you can access barcodes, you must check that barcodes are activated via Extensions > Your Extensions.

When the app is installed, you will have access to a field for barcodes on each product page. You can now choose to generate barcodes directly on each product, via an EAN scanning mode or mass generate via a tool.

Tip
If you get EAN codes from the manufacturer, it is a good idea to scan these at the product level via EAN scanning mode or on the product pages.

Alternative 1: Ean Scanning Mode

Open Product Catalog > EAN editing

Here you can manually enter EAN codes or use the scanner and enter them. The EAN codes are saved as you enter them, and are marked with a green V. If you want to leave EAN editing, press "Deactivate EAN mode"

Alternative 2: Directly on the Product Page

Alternative 3: Mass Generation

Mass generation via Tools > EAN print center

1: Select which category and products you want to generate EAN codes for.
All products and variants that are missing EAN codes will have a message about this with the text "Missing EAN, cannot be printed".

2: Select "Generate EAN" to generate barcodes on the products in the overview.

3: You will now get the following popup that EAN codes will be generated for all products that do not follow our standard (13 digits)

Caution
Please note that all products that do not have EAN codes will now be assigned this automatically. All products and variants that have EAN codes from before will not be overwritten. This means that you can safely generate EAN codes for all products that are missing barcodes.

How to Generate Barcodes for All Products in the Control Panel

If you want to generate EAN codes for all the products in the online store, leave the "Select a category" field open, and then press "Generate EAN". All products in the control panel that do not have an EAN code will then be assigned an EAN code with our standard.
