Adding new currencies
This article explains how to add multiple currencies to your online store. With multiple currencies enabled, customers can view prices and shop using their preferred currency.
Where can I find the currency settings?
Go to Control Panel → Configuration → Settings → Currency
Here you can add and manage currencies in your online store.
How to add a new currency
- Go to Configuration → Settings → Currency
- Click Add currency
- Fill in the required information
- Click Save
Required information
When adding a new currency, you must fill in the following fields:
Title
- The name of the currency.
- Example: Swedish Krona
Code
- The currency code.
- Example:
SEK
Symbol left
- Used if the currency symbol should appear before the price.
Symbol right
- Used if the currency symbol should appear after the price.
- Example:

Decimal separator
- The character used for decimals.
- Example:

Thousand separator
- The character used to separate thousands.
- Example:

Decimals
- The number of decimal places displayed.
- Example:
2
Value
- The exchange rate relative to the store’s default currency (usually NOK).
- The value must be entered with eight decimal places, for example:
1.000000000.10000000
How the exchange rate works
The exchange rate is based on the store’s default currency.
- A currency weaker than NOK should have a value above 1
- Example:
1.10000000

- A currency stronger than NOK should have a value below 1
- Example:
0.10000000

Decimal display
You can choose how prices are displayed in the store.
- Show 0 decimals in store
- Hides decimals in product prices.
- Show decimals in checkout
- Displays decimals in the checkout.
Important to know
- Exchange rates are not updated automatically
- You must update the rates manually when needed
- The default currency is used as the basis for all other currencies
What if this does not solve the problem?
- Verify that the currency code is entered correctly
- Check that the exchange rate value is correct
- Test how prices appear in the online store
- Contact Mystore support if the currency does not display correctly
