Pay with multiple gift cards online

Who can use this feature?

This feature is available for online stores using:

• The updated checkout in the America design template, or
• The Design Builder

Before you start

Before enabling the feature, make sure that:

• Your store is using the correct checkout version. Read how to activate the new check out in America here!
• The Gift Card extension is updated to the latest version.
• Don't have Gift Card in your store? Read how to create Gift Card here!

How to enable gift card merging

1. Go to Extensions → Your extensions in the control panel
2. Find Gift Card and update the extension if needed
3. Open the gift card settings
4. Enable Allow merging of gift cards in checkout
5. Save the changes

How it works for the customer

When the feature is enabled, customers will see a new option under gift cards in the checkout.

The customer can:

• Add multiple gift cards
• Merge them into a single gift card
• Use the new gift card as payment at checkout

The new gift card will have:

• One gift card code
• A total value equal to the combined balance of all merged gift cards

Customer options after merging

After merging gift cards, the customer can choose to:

• Copy the gift card code
• Use the gift card directly at checkout
• Receive the gift card code by email for later use

Important to know

• The original gift cards become invalid after merging
• Gift cards can only be merged in the checkout
• The feature applies to online payments only, not in-store payments
