Discount Center: Conditions

Conditions are the rules a shopping cart must meet before a discount is applied, plus some options that change how the discount behaves. They are located on Conditions-card on the detail page. The exact set depends on the discount type, but most apply to discount codes.

Edit conditions

On the detail page, find the Conditions-card and click Edit conditions. Set the ones you need and save. Anything you leave as default simply does not restrict the discount.

The conditions

Conditions

What it does

Minimum order

The cart total must reach this amount before the discount is applied.

Usage limit

How many times the code can be used in total across all customers. Leave empty for unlimited.

Minimum number of products

The minimum number of products that must be in the cart for the discount to apply.

Customer group

Limit the discount to one customer group. Default is all customers. You can also select Consumers (customers without a group) to give the discount only to regular customers who do not belong to a group — for example, when B2B or loyalty club members should not receive it.

Linked account

Lock a code to a single customer via the customer number, so only that account can use it.

Apply to

Whether the discount applies to all products, the most expensive, or the cheapest product.

Allow products on sale

Whether items already on sale qualify.

Discount on the recommended (pre-sale) price

Calculate the discount from the original price instead of the current sale price.

Free shipping

The discount also makes shipping free.

Can be combined with other discounts

Whether this discount can be stacked with others on the same order.

Allow orders below the discount amount

For fixed-amount codes, whether an order less than the discount value is still allowed.

Exclude customer groups

Exclude customer groups from the discount.

Gift card (remaining balance)

Treat the code as a gift card, where unused balance is retained for next time.

Not all conditions are shown for all discount types — the card only displays those that make sense for the discount you are editing.

The most important conditions

Some are worth highlighting because they change how things appear to the customer:

  • Minimum order and Minimum number of products are the usual way to make a discount 'worth it' — for example, free shipping only above a certain amount.
  • Can be combined with other discounts controls stacking. Turn it off if a code should never apply on top of an existing offer or another code.
  • Linked account turns a general code into a personal one. Once set, only the matching customer number can use it.
  • Gift card (remaining balance) is what makes a code behave like a gift card instead of a one-time discount. See the article Discount codes

Tips

  • If a customer says a code 'doesn't work', check the conditions first. A minimum order, a customer group restriction, or a linked-account lock is the most common reason.
  • If a discount is set to Consumers (customers without a group), it only applies to customers without a customer group — logged-in B2B or loyalty club members will not receive it.
  • 'Allow products on sale' off is the neat way to prevent discounts from stacking on already discounted items, separate from the broader 'Can be combined with other discounts' switch.
