How to Turn Off VAT in Your Store If You Are Not Liable for VAT

This article explains how to remove Value Added Tax (VAT) from your products in the online store if you are not liable for VAT.

Set 0% VAT on Products

To remove VAT from your products, you need to set 0% VAT on each individual product. This is done in the settings for each product.

  • Go to the "General" tab for each product.
  • Find the field for VAT.
  • Select 0%.

When You Become Liable for VAT

If your online store later becomes liable for VAT, you will need to change the VAT settings.

  • Contact customer service to change the VAT class from 0% to 25%.
  • Specify whether the retail price for customers should remain the same, or if it should be increased with VAT.

Businesses must be registered in the Value Added Tax Register when turnover and withdrawals covered by the Value Added Tax Act (taxable and exempt turnover) together have exceeded NOK 50,000 during a twelve-month period.
