This article explains why a product is not visible in a category and how to easily troubleshoot the issue.

How to troubleshoot if a product is not visible in a category

If a product does not appear in the category it has been assigned to, it is usually due to one of the following reasons:

1. Check that the product is assigned to the correct category

  1. Go to Products → Products
  2. Open the product
  3. Verify that the correct category is selected

A product must be assigned to at least one category to be visible in the online store.


2. Check that the category (or subcategory) is active

If the product is assigned to the correct category but still does not appear, you need to verify that the category itself is active.

A product will not be visible if:

  • The category is deactivated
  • The subcategory is deactivated, even if the parent category is active

How to check if the category is active:

  1. Go to Products → Products
  2. Locate the category in the category overview
  3. Verify that it is set to Active by checking the category’s on/off toggle

If the category or subcategory is deactivated, activate it and save the changes.


3. Check the product’s visibility

  1. Open the product
  2. Check the Visibility field
  • The product must be set to Active
  • If the product is Disabled or Hidden, it will not be visible in the category

4. Check the product’s inventory status or inventory rules

If the product:

  • Has inventory tracking enabled
  • Has Advanced Inventory Management enabled
  • Has 0 in stock

→ it may be hidden from the category overview.

Check:

  • Stock quantity
  • Inventory group

5. Toggle the product’s visibility (cache refresh)

If everything above is correct, the issue may be related to cache.

Try the following:

  1. Go to Products → Products
  2. Use the on/off toggle in the product overview
  3. Deactivate the product
  4. Activate it again

This forces the system to refresh the display.


6. Clear browser data

If the product still does not appear:

  • Open the online store in incognito/private mode
  • Clear your browsing data
  • Test in another browser

Contact Customer Support and include:

  • A direct link to the product(s)
  • A direct link to the category(ies)

This helps Customer Support troubleshoot the issue as efficiently as possible.
