How customer groups work in the Customer Club
The Customer Club setup uses two customer groups:
- End customers — Customers who are not members of the Customer Club. This is the default group.
- Customer Club — Customers who have joined the Customer Club. This group gets its own rules for pricing, shipping and payment.
The settings you configure under "Customer Group" apply only to the Customer Club, without affecting end customers.
How to edit the customer group
- Go to Customer Club in the left menu
- Click Manage under Customer Group
- Make the desired changes in the dialog that opens
- Click Save changes
Name
The "Name" field shows what the customer group is called. The default name is "Customer Club". You can change this to a name that suits your store.
VAT display
Under "VAT" you choose how prices are displayed for Customer Club members:
- Show prices excl. VAT — Prices are displayed without value-added tax.
- Show prices incl. VAT — Prices are displayed with value-added tax included. This is the default setting.
Show in categories
Here you decide whether the Customer Club should have its own category structure:
- Own customer group category — Enable this to create a category that is only visible to members.
- Show only customer group categories — Hides all other categories for customers in this group, so they only see categories assigned to the Customer Club.
Hide shipping methods
Here you can choose to hide specific shipping methods for Customer Club members. Tick the shipping methods you do not want members to see.
How to create a dedicated shipping method for the Customer Club
If you want a shipping method that only applies to members:
- Go to Configuration → Shipping Methods and create a new shipping method for members
- Select which customer groups this shipping method should not be displayed for
- Go to Orders/Customers → Customer Groups
- Select the "End Customer" group and choose which shipping methods should not be displayed for them
Hide payment methods
Here you can choose to hide specific payment methods for members. Tick the payment methods you do not want members to see.
Free shipping on orders
Enable this toggle to offer free shipping to Customer Club members. You can specify order amount, maximum weight and which shipping methods qualify for free shipping.
Change prices on products
Enable this toggle to set custom member prices. You can bulk-adjust prices by filtering by category and/or manufacturer.
Member prices can be adjusted based on:
- End customer price (excl. VAT)
- Purchase price
- Current group price (excl. VAT)
- Current sale price (excl. VAT)
You also choose the adjustment method: deduct by percentage, deduct by amount, add by percentage, or add by amount. See the article "Price Adjustment for Customer Club Members" for a full walkthrough.
How to reset member prices
- Open the Customer Group dialog via Customer Club → Customer Group → Manage
- Click Reset prices at the bottom left
- Confirm that you want to remove all custom member prices
To reset a single customer group price, select 0% and adjust the price based on "End customer price excl. VAT".
Good to know
- Changes to shipping and payment methods only affect Customer Club members — other customers see all available methods as usual.
- If you enable "Show only customer group categories", members will not see any of the regular categories in the store. Use this with caution.
- If you reset prices, all custom member prices are permanently removed. This action cannot be undone.
- Member prices do not have the same functionality as regular campaigns. They apply permanently for members and are managed via the customer group.
