Identity Verification - Google Ads

Identity Verification - Google Ads

This article explains why Google requires advertiser identity verification and how to complete the process.

Why Does Google Require Advertiser Identity Verification?

The goal of this change is to increase trust in the advertising ecosystem by providing users with more information about who the advertisers actually are. Advertiser identity verification allows Google to confirm the name of the advertisers and the countries they are based in, through a gradual rollout of the program. This is part of the effort to increase transparency and give users more choices and greater control.

If you are selected to complete advertiser identity verification, you will receive an email and an account notification with instructions.

To verify your identity, follow the instructions in the received email or go to Google Ads to the "Tools and settings" menu > "Billing" > "Settings". Click on "Get started" in the "Identity verification" section.

Note

A foreground window will open where you will be asked to consent to the relevant name and location being displayed in the announcement in the ads. Click "Accept and continue". If you are not a Google Ads administrator, you must contact an account administrator to initiate the verification process. You will be asked to verify your identity. Review and upload the necessary documents, and then click Send. Only payment administrators can submit documents.
