Extra product information
Add extended information about your products. This article explains how to activate and use the extra product information feature in Acendy.
How to activate extra product information
You can easily activate this integration via Apps > Settings in your control panel.
How to add information
Once the extension is installed, six new fields will appear on the product pages.
This information will be linked to the product and will be displayed in the control panel, on picking lists and when exporting product information.
An example of use is to add a storage location to a product, and then have this information available on picking lists and when exporting products.
How to get started with customs invoice
If you want to use the Customs Invoice extension, you need to enter information about the country of origin and HS code on your products. You can do this by exporting your products, entering the information and importing again.
Country of origin
The product's country of origin.
Hs code (harmonized system code)
An HS number is part of an internationally standardized system with names and numbers for the classification of trade products – these codes are created and updated by world customs organizations (WCO).
This system enables all countries to follow the same guidelines for classifying products before export and import. HS numbers can be displayed in more than one way, depending on where the shipment is going and who is responsible for it – they are also referred to as HC, HTS, item number or tariffs, depending on the country.
It is important that importers and exporters around the world can find the correct item number. This not only helps to identify what kind of products are being sent, but also plays an important role for tax systems and controls.
Here you can see how the HS number is displayed, and some other important points:
- The first 6 digits are the same in 183 countries.
- The rest of the digits are generally country-specific and define tax rates or other rates.
- European export declarations generally require 8 digits.
- European import declarations generally require 10 digits.
- US declarations require 10 digits.
- The item description determines the HS number.
- The HS number, together with value and currency, determines customs and tax rates.
