Article number
Products and variants should have unique article numbers for order processing with Klarna, import and export, when using Datakasse, and in relation to reports. Article numbers can positively affect organic visibility if they are visible on the products.
Article number on variants:
Each product and variant should have an article number that is the identifier for the item. In certain cases, it may be appropriate to associate other IDs with the products, e.g. barcodes.
Article numbers on variants only apply to combinations of stock-managed variants, so how you use it depends on which variants you need stock management for. Article about stock-managed variants, you can find here.
Article numbers on variants function almost as if the variant were a separate product. Variant-based article numbers should have a link to the product's article number, as in the example above. The product's article number is L3000, and the variants are L3000-1, L3000-2, and L3000-3. The most important thing is to set this up with a fixed system.
You can create article numbers yourself or use the suppliers' article numbers.
