Gift Cards

Gift cards are a simple and effective way for customers to give a flexible gift, while also creating increased sales and loyalty for your online store. This article shows you how gift cards work in the system, how they are created and managed, and how they can be used both in the online store and in the cash register.

How to Create Gift Cards?

A gift card is created as a completely ordinary product - with name, description and picture.

1. Go to Products > Products and click +Product. If you want the gift card to be in a separate category, you can click +Category first, and create the category.
2. Add product name, product description and product image and stock status, and press "Create product".
3. Then click Edit on the product and navigate to the Tags tab and turn on "giftcard":

Now you can save your changes, and the gift card will be ready for sale!

Sale of Gift Cards in the Online Store

When the tag is added and the product is created, the gift card will appear as a product in your online store. When a customer then buys a gift card, an email will automatically be sent out with a PDF file containing the discount code that the recipient of the gift card can use when they shop in your store.

Sale of Gift Cards in the Cash Register

The gift card can also be sold from the cash register as a regular product. When a customer buys a gift card, the gift card will be printed as a receipt that can be scanned directly into the cash register if you have a barcode reader. If you do not have a barcode reader, the gift card can be used by entering the 13-digit code, as a credit note.

Important Information Regarding Crediting of Orders Partly with Gift Cards

Orders that are partially paid with a gift card will not credit the amount back to the gift card, the reason for this is that the system does not take into account what is paid with a gift card and what is not.
