# What is a sitemap?

## What is a sitemap?

A sitemap is a map of your online store's content. Every Acendy store automatically generates and updates its own sitemap.

## Why you should use it

-   Makes it easier for Google and other search engines to get an overview of the content and structure of the online store.
-   This is especially useful for new online stores as it can lead to Google indexing the pages faster.

## How to submit your sitemap to Google Search Console

Please note that submitting a sitemap requires you to have already set up Google Search Console (formerly Google Webmasters Tool).

### Steps:

1.  Log in to **Google Search Console**
2.  Select **Sitemaps** on the main menu to the left.
3.  Enter **sitemap.xml** after the domain of the online store.
4.  Press submit.
5.  Check that the submission is complete and approved.
