# Hiding variants from storefront

This article explains how to hide variants you do not want to display in the online store.

If you have inventory-managed variants that you no longer want to display in the online store, it is better to hide them than to delete them. **Deleting a variant removes all inventory history and links to stock counts and purchase orders.**

## How to hide a variant

1.  Go to **Products → Products** and open the relevant product
2.  Open the tab **Variants**
3.  Scroll down to the variant combination box
4.  Select the variant you want to hide
5.  Click **Save changes**

The variant is now hidden from the online store and cannot be purchased by customers.

## Important to know

-   Hidden variants retain all inventory history and links to stock counts and purchase orders.
-   You can make the variant visible again at any time by unhiding it and saving the changes.
