Around 67% of all shopping carts are abandoned before the purchase is completed. The abandoned cart feature can help you recoup many of those lost sales. Learn how to get started.
What is abandoned cart?
Abandoned cart is a feature that automatically follows up customers who have added items to their cart without completing the purchase. With the solution, you can easily create an email that is sent out automatically to all customers who abandon their shopping cart. You can decide when the email should be sent out, but according to our data, the default setting when setting up is good enough.
Increase your order value with minimal effort
In addition to reminding customers of the products they left behind, you can also attach displays of other products that are relevant to the products the customer already has in their cart.
Measure the effect
In the control panel you will have access to view statistics for each individual email. You can see how many people have opened, clicked, revenue and number of completed transactions.
Increased chances of conversion through multiple emails
To increase the chance of conversion, you can send another follow-up to customers who don't complete their purchase after the first email sent. This can automatically be sent a few days after the first email, and e.g. contain a discount code of 10% to increase the desire to buy.
However, it is important not to send too many emails, as this can be perceived as spam. The procedure is described further down in the article.
Get started with abandoned cart
Abandoned cart is easy to get started with. See the procedure below.
Create the email to send
In order to create your flow, first make sure you have the email(s) you want to send out to your customers via this flow. Creating the email first makes it easier to create the flow afterwards.
Open Flow > Email > Overview > the Plus sign to create an email
Choose which template you want to use as a starting pointTap Save and continue
Give your email a descriptive name so you can easily find it when the flow should be created.
Create the flow to send out the email
Once the email is created, you can start sending out the email via a flow. See how the flow is set up.
Create new flow via Flow > Overview > Plus sign
Select Abandoned cart and which email template you want to use
Give your flow a descriptive name so you can easily find it in your dashboard
Choose how many emails to send
When the flow is set up, choose how many emails to send. We recommend choosing from the following.
1: flow that sends 1 email with reminder
2: flow that sends 2 emails, where the other can contain a discount code.
Alt 1: flow that sends 1 email to the customer
In the example below, the flow isn't triggered multiple times, and the only emails sent are the ones you've entered in the flow.
Alt 2: flow that sends 2 emails to the customer
If you want to send more emails to your customer, you may want to offer the customer an incentive to complete the purchase. This can e.g. be a discount code of an optional percentage, e.g. 10%.
In the example below, two emails are sent to the customer. The first after 6 hours and the second after 24h (if the customer has not completed the purchase)
👆 The steps are identical until the next "waiting step" of 24h.
