Google Tag Manager is a useful tool that allows you to manage and implement tracking tags and other scripts on your website, without having to alter your website's source code. Follow the steps below to enable Google Tag Manager in your control panel:
Step 1: Link your Google Tag Manager account with your online store
- Log into the control panel of your online store.
- Go to "Configuration" > "Google" > "Google Tag Manager".
- Click on "Install module".
- You will now need a Google Tag Manager ID to complete the setup.
Step 2: Create a Google Tag Manager account and get ID
- Open the following link: https://www.google.com/tagmanager/
- Click on "Start for free"
- Fill in the following information:
- Desired account name
- Select Country
- Add the desired container/content name (e.g. domain name).
- Set target platform to "Web".
- Click "Create".
- Accept Google's terms
- Copy the code that appears at the top of the page.
Step 3: Paste your Google Tag Manager ID into the Control Panel
- Go back to the control panel of your online store.
- Paste the Google Tag Manager ID code you copied in the previous step under "Tag manager ID"Tip!You don't need to copy the entire code, just the one that the arrow points to above. GTM-NKXXXX in the example above.
- Click "Save Changes".
You have now enabled Google Tag Manager in your control panel, and you can start managing tracking codes and scripts on your website via Google Tag Manager.
