Why is a GTIN important and where should you enter it?

Google requires that you register a Global Trade Item Number (GTIN), as long as it exists, on your products in order to use them in Google Shopping campaigns. If the product has a barcode, you will find the number usually on the packaging, or it is enclosed on a list that comes with the delivery. If you cannot find it, we recommend that you contact the manufacturer for more information.

The benefits of getting your products approved for impressions are that you get more items available for your advertising and can increase the likelihood of sales because it gives Google more opportunities to play.

How to find the list of the under-recognized products
1. Log in to Google Merchant Center
2. Tap Products
3. Select Diagnostics to see the overview in the picture below
4. Download the list of under-recognized products with Invalid value [identifier exists]

To add GTINs to your products
There are several ways to enter the codes on the products. You can either do it manually by adding them to the Mystore control panel by editing product information and entering the number in the Barcode (GTIN) field.

If there are a lot of products you need to add info to, you can save time by using the Import/Export application, where you can bulk process the products. Or you can use a scanner if you combine our services Barcodes and Mystore superscanner.

To create a GTIN
In our control panel you can create barcodes under "tools" > "EAN print".
Barcodes generated can only be used for your own use, if you have an integration with a third party (e.g. Google Shopping, Facebook and similar) these usually require that you have approved EAN codes. You can get such codes from e.g. www.gs1.no.
