This extension allows you to offer gift cards to your customers. These can be sold and used both in the online store and in the POS.
How are gift cards used?
To start selling gift cards, the gift card must first be created as a product in your control panel. The gift card is created as an ordinary product, with name, description and photo. The way to make sure that this product behaves like a gift card is via so-called tags. The tag to put on the gift card is called Giftcard. The value is set to 1 .
See photo ⬇️
When the tag is added and the product is created, the gift card will appear as a product in your online store. When a customer purchases a gift card, an email will automatically be sent out with a PDF file containing the discount code that the recipient of the gift card can use when shopping in your store.
Feel free to make a test purchase to see what the gift card looks like
Gift cards in the POS
The gift card can also be sold from the data checkout, then the gift card will be printed as a receipt that can be scanned directly if you have a barcode scanner. If you do not have a barcode reader, the gift card can be used by entering the 13-digit code as a voucher.
Overview and accounting
You can find an overview of sold and used gift cards under Reports > Debt in your control panel. If you use Tripletex, we have written the following help article that goes through how to account for a gift card via the integration.
Important information regarding crediting of orders partly with gift cards
Orders that are partially paid for with gift cards will not credit the amount back to the gift card, the reason for this is that the system does not take into account what is paid with gift cards and not.
If you have an order that is partly paid for by gift card and need to credit this, please contact our customer service.
