Instagram Shopping is a great feature that allows you to tag and sell products directly in your Instagram posts. To be able to activate Instagram Shopping, you need to follow some simple steps. Here's a guide to help you get started.
Before you begin
Before you set up Instagram Shopping, make sure you have:
A Facebook Business Manager: If you don't already have a Business Manager, you can create one on https://business.facebook.com/overview.
Facebook/Instagram Feed app: You need the Facebook/Instagram Feed app to set up Instagram Shopping. You can buy this app for NOK 2499 with a subscription of NOK 149 per month. Instructions for setting up the Facebook feed can be found in another article.
A professional Instagram account: You must have a professional Instagram account to use Instagram Shopping.
Once you have everything ready, you can follow these steps to set up Instagram Shopping:
Step 1: Log in to your Facebook Business Manager account The most important first step is to verify your domain in Business Manager and Mystore. Follow these steps:
- Go to "Business Settings" in Facebook Business Manager.
- Navigate to "Brand Safety".
- Select "Domains" and then "Add".
- Enter your domain name (for example, butikknavn.no) and press "Add domain".
- Refresh the Business Manager page.
- Go to the "Meta-tag Verification" tab and copy the Meta-tag code that appears (see screenshot).
- Go to your Mystore control panel and select "Configuration" and then "Social Media".
- Find "Facebook Meta Tag" and install the module. Paste the Meta Tag verification code (not the entire text) between "Content=" and "/>".
- Save changes and wait about 5 minutes for your online store to update itself.
- Go back to your Business Manager and tap 'Confirm'. By now, your domain should be verified.
Step 2: Make sure you have connected Facebook feed Follow the instructions in another article to set up Facebook feed.
Step 3: Create a free business profile on Instagram Go to the settings in the Instagram app and select "Switch to Business Account".
Step 4: Connect Facebook page with Instagram account This can be done directly in the Instagram app. Follow these steps:
- Go to your profile and tap on the menu.
- Select "Settings/Settings".
- Tap on "Account" and then "Linked Accounts".
- Select "Facebook" and enter your Facebook login details.
Step 5: Create your store in Facebook Business Manager Go to "Create your store" in Facebook Business Manager and follow the wizard. Be sure to select "Pay on another site".
Instagram Shopping approvals: It can take around 1-3 days for you to be approved for Instagram Shopping. You'll get a notification in the Instagram app or by email when you're approved. When you get the notification, enable Shopping by following the "Get started" notification at the top of your profile or by going to Settings -> Business -> Shopping and selecting your product catalog and pressing 'Finish'.
Now you can start using product tagging and Instagram Shopping.
If you find that some of your products can't be used for product tagging or Instagram Shopping, Facebook may have disapproved them. You can read this article to find out how to check this.
We hope this guide helps you get started with Instagram Shopping! Good luck with your sales on Instagram!
