Privacy is a fundamental right and is about the right to privacy and the right to decide over one's own personal data.
Why you're subject to GDPR
As an online store owner, you must have good routines to safeguard the privacy of your customers. When shopping online, you must ask for information about the customer's identity to ensure that you are communicating with a real person.
This may, for example, be information that the customer provides in connection with the creation of a customer account in your online store.
You are obliged to process this customer data in a secure manner. In addition, you must inform your customers about how you process your customer data. This is recommended to be done via a privacy statement available in the online store.
To add a privacy statement to your online store
In the Control Panel you will find a Privacy page ready for you to enter your privacy statement:
- Log in to your Control Panel
- Select Design > Main Menu/Content
- On Privacy , tap Edit
- If the page/link is hidden, remember to have it visible in the main menu and/or the bottom line
Alternatively, you can choose to add a separate section on privacy under your terms of sale.
Privacy Statement Template
- Here you will find a template for the privacy statement that you are welcome to use. You are responsible for finding out which of the points in the template apply to your online store.
