Products and variants should have unique article numbers, both in relation to order processing against Klarna, when importing and exporting, using POS and in relation to reports. Article numbers can have a positive effect on organic visibility if the article number is visible on the products.
Product article number
Article number of variants
Each product and variant should have an article number that is the identifier on the item.
In certain cases, it may be appropriate to associate other IDs with the products, e.g. barcodes
Item number after variant only deals with combinations of stock-controlled variants, so how you use it depends on which variants you need inventory management on.
Article about stock-controlled variants, can be found here.
Article numbers on variants work almost as if the variant were a separate product.
Variant-based article numbers should link to the product's article number, as in the example above. The product article number is L3000 and variants L3000-1, L3000-2 and
L3000-3.
The main thing is that this is set up with a fixed system.
Article numbers can be created yourself or made use of the suppliers' article numbers.
